Out of absolutely nowhere, former Sex and the City heartthrob Jason Lewis just popped back up online after basically disappearing from public life for more than three years — and now fans are completely spiraling over his super mysterious comeback message!

On Wednesday, the actor, best known for playing Samantha Jones’ dreamy younger boyfriend Smith Jerrod on SATC, posted a moody Instagram video of himself strolling along a beach while staring dramatically into the distance like he was about to announce the end of civilization… or launch a secret cult. And honestly? We still have no clue what he’s talking about!
In the clip, the 54-year-old finally addressed his long absence from Hollywood and social media with a statement that immediately sent fans into detective mode:
“I went quiet. Not because I have nothing to say, but because I had something to do.”
Ooookayyyy. Mysterious much?!
But wait — he kept going:
“The kind of creative work that doesn’t leave room for much else, and I made my peace with that. It’s the kind of work that needs to find its people, though.”
Find its people?! Sir, WHAT does that even mean?!
Naturally, fans flooded the comments trying to figure out whether he’s teasing a movie, a memoir, a spiritual awakening, a music project, or some kind of deep artistic reinvention. And honestly, after vanishing this long, the suspense is kind of working! People are curious!
Lewis still refused to reveal exactly what he’s been working on, though he did hint that whatever this mystery project is, it’s apparently far enough along that he finally felt ready to return to the public eye.
Even his caption sounded dramatic as hell:
“After three years, it was time.”
Three years!!! That’s practically a lifetime in Hollywood!

For those who may need a refresher, Lewis has kept an extremely low profile ever since his brief appearance on Dancing with the Stars back in 2022. He competed alongside pro dancer Peta Murgatroyd, but sadly the pair became the very first couple eliminated that season. Brutal!
And considering Lewis was once one of the most recognizable faces in the SATC universe, fans noticed his disappearance. Of course, his role as Smith Jerrod made him an instant fan favorite back in the early 2000s, especially thanks to his complicated romance with Kim Cattrall’s Samantha Jones. He later reprised the role in both Sex and the City movies, though he never returned for HBO’s reboot series And Just Like That.

As for acting? His last credited role was all the way back in 2018 on the supernatural NBC drama Midnight, Texas. So, whatever he’s been cooking up behind the scenes all this time could mark a major comeback moment for the actor. Or it could be an interpretive photography exhibit. LOLz!
