Netflix held an advance screening at their studio for their upcoming series by Guy Ritchie The Gentlemen.
The Gentlmen which is a continuation of the world Director/Writer Guy Ritchie began with a film of the same name follows aristocratic Eddie (Theo James) who inherits the family estate that’s been in his family since the 1500s. The pilot opens with his ne’er-do-well party-boy older brother, Freddy (Daniel Ings, “Lovesick”), gets passed over in their father’s will, much to Freddy’s ire. Soon after Eddie discovers that his “inheritance” is home to an enormous weed empire, and its proprietors aren’t going anywhere. After this discovery, he soon crosses paths with a bunch of sketchy characters from the British criminal underworld. This is the show’s connection to the movie, since that introduced a world where cannabis labs are operating out of homes of aristocratic landlords (who need the money for the upkeep of their estates). To sum up the show: ‘The Gentleman,’ is a posh and perilous new series by Guy Ritchie.
The series stars Theo James and is set to be released on 7 March 2024 and consists of eight episodes on Netflix. If you have been yearning for a show to fill the void left by Peaky Blinders‘ departure, well this show has been tailormade for you. Theo James is absolutely scumptious as Eddie and the entire cast that makes up the rest of the show is just as delightful if the first episode is any gauge. We can’t wait to see what develops as the show continues to unfold. The pilot episode is incredibly well done and feels more like a movie than an episode of tv. The series is a new story with a new cast, and doesn’t require knowledge of Guy Ritchie’s film set in the same universe, although it won’t hurt you to enjoy that too.
