Showrunners is a fast paced, speed-running roller skating game where you are trying to build up high speed, land tricks, and master your movement so that you can come out on the top of the leader board. The story behind this game has you racing for entertainment, of those watching your performance. You can change out your outfits and do various tricks to better entertain the crowd.
The movement in Showrunners feels really good – going from a pipe to a road to a side wall all starts to flow and feel good. With that said, sometimes it’s not quite straight forward where you are going, and you might need to die a few times and respawn to actually understand the way of each of the tracks. Once you do master them, however, the game becomes quite fun!

The jump, for me, feels a little bit big (especially when wanting to move onto bars so that I can build up speed faster) but it also feels like this is needed to play on the momentum feel of the game. Suddenly, you do need to make sure that your momentum is in consideration, so that you can find yourself building up speed and zipping around the course as fast as possible.
I do like the bits of narrative story that string together the different levels. There are some strange characters in Showrunners! I got the chance to play a demo at Brilliant Indie Treasures, where I felt that this sort of game is best played with a controller and while trying to keep an eye out for shortcuts and keep yourself on the track.
You can wishlist Showrunners on Steam.
