The notorious Slender Man stabber has sprung her group home!
It’s been more than a decade now since Morgan Geyser lured her best friend Peyton Leutner into the woods and brutally stabbed her 19 times at just 12 years old. The shocking 2014 attack, which also involved friend Anissa Weier, came in an apparent bid to appease the fictional, nightmare-ish internet legend known as Slender Man.
Geyser and Weier later confessed to the stabbing and the former was convicted of first-degree intentional homicide in 2018. The two were then sentenced to a combined 65 years in a mental institution. However, Geyser was released to a group home in Madison, Wisconsin earlier this year, where she’s mandated to wear an ankle monitor. But alarms sounded over the weekend when she cut that monitor off…

According to police reports obtained by multiple outlets, Geyser severed the ankle monitoring device from her ankle at around 9:30 p.m. local time on Saturday. The monitoring agency quickly contacted the group home staff, who reported the now-22-year-old was nowhere to be seen.
SCARY!
Geyser had apparently last been seen at the group home at around 8:15 p.m. that same night, but her disappearance was only ever reported to police the following morning!
A manhunt quickly followed and thankfully, Geyser was found just over 24 hours after she escaped. BBC reported the convict had made it to a truck stop just outside of Chicago — a shocking 170 miles south of her group home — where she was found with older man Chad Mecca. The Posen Village Police Department reported in a statement:
“When officers arrived, they located both subjects sleeping on the sidewalk. The female repeatedly refused to provide her real name and initially gave a false one. After continued attempts to identify her, she finally stated that she didn’t want to tell officers who she was because she had ‘done something really bad,’ and suggested that officers could ‘just Google’ her name.”
The pair were detained and Mecca was charged with trespassing and obstructing identification, but later released. According to the report, Geyser had previously become friends with Mecca and told officers she felt she was being treated unfairly in the group home and was “upset that Chad was not allowed to visit her.” She also claimed he had snuck in through her window on multiple occasions. Mecca spoke with officers and, according to WKOW, confessed “[Geyser] ran because of me.” He added:
“It was still my choice at the end of the day. I followed what I thought was right. I stand by it.”
The PVPD report added:
“When asked about her ankle monitor she stated that she cut it off with scissors and that she and Chad discussed potentially making their way to Nashville, Tennessee.”
Geyser appeared in court on Monday and was ordered to be detained in the Cook County Jail. According to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, an out-of-state warrant was issued from Wisconsin, and Geyser’s next court date is scheduled for next Tuesday.
We’re so glad Geyser is back in custody… What a wild 24 hours.
