Just recently, a pretty seismic leak made its way across the internet, revealing the apparent existence of a new Zelda-themed Switch 2 console and accompanying Pro Controller.
Produced to celebrate the series’ 40th anniversary, the hardware boasts a rather lovely custom theme that includes heavy use of the iconic Triforce along with a mix of black, green, and gold colours.
We’ve only seen the new hardware through new photos of flat-packed product packaging, but as a reminder, here’s what they look like:
So our question to you now is simple: are you going to get these?
Admittedly, it’s a simple question with a not-so-simple answer, especially if you already own a Switch 2 and Pro Controller. Neither are particularly cheap, and with a console price hike making its way to the west in September, the decision to purchase a second console is hardly trivial.
Of course, you can always flog your current hardware to help fund your new purchase, and we suspect a lot of folks will probably do this. After all, it’s not like the old days where your purchase and save history is tied solely to a single console. With Switch and Switch 2, you can just transfer everything across – no bother.
Immediate reactions from the NL crew indicate that this may well be a popular piece of kit upon its release. “Damn, my mum’s gonna kill me”, said Gavin upon viewing the leaked photos. Meanwhile, Jim reckons the console and controller are “just sexy enough for me to absolutely consider buying the full shebang”.
