Happy New Year, folks! Kana, the manga imprint from Abrams ComicArts is kicking off 2025 with the English release of Space Punch.
Previously released in 2021, this is the first time the French-language manga, which is also ZD‘s debut manga series, will be available for English readers. Space Punch follows two brothers who are as different as they come: Zack is a policeman and Joe is a food delivery man. The one thing that they both share is their burning passion for boxing, a sport in which they both excel at. The two live in a mafia-governed metropolis where corruption and violence are rampant and a part of everyday life, and now they must navigate this city as they try to understand why their late father left them mysterious artifacts.
Space Punch currently has five volumes and is going strong. The preview can be seen below. As a delivery man, Joe is used to giving things to people. But when his friend gives him a pair of boxing boots, he’s stunned. Aafter having not boxed for several years, he reluctantly gets back into the boxing ring. Apprehensive though he initially is, his muscle memory kicks in and he starts analyzing his opponent’s moves and searching for that opening. However, before he can seize the opportunity for the win, he gets caught off guard and his face is smashed.
Space Punch was announced as part of the initial line-up when Abrams first launched their manga imprint in April 2024.
Containing 216 pages and featuring black and white art, the first volume of Space Punch releases on January 7, 2025 in bookstores before it releases in comic shops a day later.
