Spanish Love Songs have announced Future Nausea, their fifth LP, out Nov. 6 via Pure Noise.
Future Nausea takes heartland rock, which has traditionally leaned on nostalgia and idealization of American life, and explores vocalist Dylan Slocum’s personal anxieties and the bleak world we’re living in. Detailing the lead single, the band describe “Good American” as the “angriest” song they’ve ever written and say it sets the tone for the rest of the album.

“The military complex is a complicated, terrible thing that preys on economic instability and desperation, all under the guise of patriotism and making people feel like they belong to something greater than themselves,” Slocum says.
“With Trump’s reelection, I started seeing stories of trans soldiers, including some career soldiers my own age, being tossed aside even more callously. It brought back the memories of the vets I met all those years before,” he continues. “From there, the story emerged in each successive verse. A story of what life looks like after the institution you believed in deems you surplus to needs.”
