Listen up class, after giving us an exciting tease of the upcoming second season, Maxton Hall – The World Between Us has been renewed for Season 3. The lead pair, Damian Hardung, who plays James, and Harriet Herbig-Matten, who plays Ruby, announced in a new video shared by Amazon Prime. Ruby and James’ dynamic won fans’ hearts around the world when the German-language series first dropped on the streamer, and while there were unconfirmed hints about a possible third season, it seems like the streamer is confident on the upcoming season’s success to continue it for another term.
In a new video shared on X (formerly Twitter), Hardung and Herbig-Matten are seen on a video call, with the set of their scripts for season 3. As Hardung puts it “back one last time for season 3.” The series is based on the Save Me book series by Mona Kasten, which comprises of 3 books, and it seems each book is getting a season. For now, fans can imagine that the third season should be the final for Ruby and James’ story, but hey, one can always hope for a prequel or sequel.
What to Expect From Maxton Hall Season 2?
While Season 3 is a long way away, Maxton Hall – The World Between Us season 2 recently dropped a very nice teaser that shows more hardships coming the central pair’s way. While things looked optimistic and bright by the end of season 2. The final moments show that when James and his sister Lydia (Sonja Weißer), return from Oxford, they are informed that their mother has died and their father kept it from them, which will certainly affect James’s relationship with his father.
Hardung previously revealed that the upcoming season will be dark as James navigates love and grief. “I just did the ADR for it and the second season is really dark and [there’s] a lot of grief and trauma in my character.” And certainly James’ grief will affect his relationship with Ruby. Hardung further revealed, “I had a really tough time shooting that, it really pushed me to a point where I’m like: ‘I don’t know if that’s healthy anymore.’ So, I’m really eager to see how that played out on screen.” So bring out the tissues when the next season comes.
