The Linda Lindas have announced their new album, Gotta Get Out, which arrives on Aug. 28 via Reprise/Warner Records.
To make the album, the band stepped away from their usual process, writing together in Palm Springs and Long Beach for the first time — exploring everything from self-discovery, change, and community.

“Closer,” the second track released from Gotta Get Out following “Burning Out,” features Paramore’s Hayley Williams and explores the feeling of time slipping away and watching yourself grow up from a distance. Rather than recording remotely, Williams joined the band in the studio, co-writing the bridge before they all went to Halloween Horror Nights together. She later told the band that “Closer” reminded her of listening to her teenage self.
“Lately, we’ve been realizing how important it is to stay present, especially when our lives feel constantly in motion,” vocalists/guitarists Bela Salazar and Lucia de la Garza say. “It feels perfect that Hayley Williams was down to collaborate on this song with us, because we’ve been fans of her throughout so many of her different eras — and she’s seen us grow up over the last 10 years! We’ll always be honored that we got to write and get emo with the queen of emo herself.”
Later this year, the Linda Lindas will tour with Bleachers.
