‘This Cop Was a Super Psycho’

Paul Rudd has revealed the story behind his two arrests, labelling the cop involved as a “super psycho.” The arrests trace back to Rudd’s teenage days, years before his Hollywood career took off.

Paul Rudd has opened up about his past run-ins with law enforcement, detailing two arrests from his younger days.

The Anaconda actor recently shared stories from his teenage years while appearing on the May 19 episode of Friends Keep Secrets with Benny Blanco and Lil Dicky. Toward the end of the interview, Blanco asked if Rudd had ever been pulled over. Before he could respond, Blanco cut in and asked directly, “Have you ever been arrested?”

“Two times, when I was a teenager,” Paul Rudd responded. “One time I was in a car, I was riding shotgun, my friend Mike was driving, and we had water guns.”

The Ant-Man star shared that another car of friends was driving alongside them, also armed with water guns. As they fired water at each other, a police car rolled up behind them. Mike pulled over, but the friends in the second car didn’t stop and escaped unscathed. That left Rudd and Mike to deal with the officer directly.

“This cop was a super psycho,” he described, before mentioning that the officer trained his weapon on them.

Rudd emphasized that the officer had a gun pointed at him when he was only about 16. The pair cooperated and turned over the water guns, but the officer still cited each of them. However, that wasn’t Rudd’s only run-in with the police. He had another confrontation with an officer just a few years later.

The incident happened during Paul Rudd’s freshman year of college outside The Bull bar in Lawrence, Kansas. New to drinking, Rudd was holding a beer when two cops rolled up. Since he was underage, he dumped it and tried to leave, but they had already spotted him. Caught red-handed, Rudd ended up back in court, but the only penalty was community service at a Boys and Girls Club.
