At the Anime Expo 2024 TRIGUN STAMPEDE panel on Thursday July 4th, animation studio Orange announced the name for the continuation of the immensely popular series TRIGUN STAMPEDE; TRIGUN STARGAZE. Originally referred to as “FINAL PHASE”, it was announced after the conclusion of TRIGUN STAMPEDE last year. No date on the premiere date for STARGAZE but it will stream on Crunchyroll.
Not much more information was provided nor was a teaser trailer seen at the panel. All that’s known at the moment is TRIGUN STARGAZE takes place two and a half years after STAMPEDE. Key members of the production team, including director Kenji Muto, writer Takehiko Oki, and character designer Kouji Tajima, are on board.
Orange however did display new visuals for Vash the Stampede, Knives Millions, and Nicholas Wolfwood at the panel. With the darker colors for Vash and the black and red title card, could this hint at a potentially darker second season?
Additionally Trigun creator Yasuhiro Nightow provided with a new illustration featuring Vash and Wolfwood in the new designs for the panel. Check it out below.
Anticipation for TRIGUN STARGAZE should be pretty high. When TRIGUN STAMPEDE debuted in last year, fans went nuts. People who loved the 1998 anime came out of the woodwork and new fans came together to celebrate all things Vash. We here at The Beat even included it on our Best Anime of 2023 list. To create an anime remake that’s seemingly beloved as its older version is an impressive feat.
Though there’s still no date for release for STARGAZE. Orange is currently working on the final season of Beastars slated for later this year, and an anime adaptation of Scott Westerfield’s novel Leviathan for Netflix in 2025. The earliest possible date for release is likely late 2025. Expectations are high for STARGAZE but Orange seems ready to meet them a second time.
TRIGUN STAMPEDE currently streams on Crunchyroll.
