Developer Ballistic Moon and Sony Interactive Entertainment announced the release date for the Until Dawn Remake. Gamers won’t have to wait too long to get their hands on the campy star-studded horror game.
When Does the Until Dawn Remake Release?
The Until Dawn Remake will launch for PS5 and PC on October 4, 2024. Released with the date reveal is a new trailer featuring comparison shots of the original and the remake.
“As a team of Until Dawn fans and horror lovers, our intention has not been to alter the events of that fateful night,” says Ballistic Moon Creative Director Neil McEwan on PlayStation Blog. “Instead, we have focused on giving the original game a cinematic update, offering the player a more intimate experience by enhancing the visual storytelling.”
As seen in the trailer, much of the changes are visual to make the game feel more cinematic. Rebuilt using Unreal Engine 5, the Until Dawn Remake gets a visual overhaul that improve every graphical facet of the game.
Although Ballistic Moon’s intent was to remain faithful to the original release, a few changes have been made to modernize the experience, namely a new third-person camera control mechanic. New collectibles have been added in the form of Hunger totems, which will bring new visions to the game. New interactions have also been added to add context and detail to the world.
Developed by Supermassive Games, Until Dawn originally released back in 2015 as a PS4 exclusive. It stars Rami Malek, Hayden Panettiere, Noah Fleiss, Galadriel Stineman, Nichole Sakura, Jordan Fisher, Brett Dalton, Meaghan Martin, and Peter Stormare.
Many of the game’s stars have gone on to do some big projects since Until Dawn released in 2015. For example, Rami Malek went on to star in the Emmy award winning show Mr. Robot. He then starred as Freddy Mercury in the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody where he won the Academy Award for Best Actor. He’s also starred in films such as No Time to Die (2021) and Oppenheimer (2023).
The Until Dawn Remake preorders begin on August 21, 2024. A PlayStation Network account is required for PC players.
