An upcoming horror TV show based on a bestselling graphic novel series is already expected to be the goriest thing on our screens, and we can’t wait to see it. Horror TV has started to match horror movies in their intensity. We’ve seen some extremely gory shows like Hannibal, It: Welcome to Derry, AHS, and Slasher. However, an upcoming TV show could easily outdo all of them under the right circumstances.
The Eisner Award-winning story Something Is Killing The Children started as a horror comic book series by James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera, published by BOOM! Studios that became wildly popular. Because of its success, it has been published in graphic novel volumes, an omnibus, and an art book.
Now, it has been picked up by Blumhouse for a creative simultaneous adaptation, with both a live-action movie and an adult animated TV show that will tie together. Having read the graphic novels, Something Is Killing The Children will absolutely be the goriest thing on TV if they due a proper adaptation.
Something Is Killing The Children Is Non-Stop Brutal Violence & Gore
Something Is Killing the Children is a highly anticipated upcoming horror show based on books. The story centers on a small town called Archer’s Peak, where the children start to go missing. Few survive, and those who do have terrifying stories of monsters in the shadows. Nobody believes their claims until a woman named Erica Slaughter comes into town, who can not only see the monsters but is determined to stop the massacre.
The premise sounds simple enough, but for those who haven’t read the comics or graphic novels, be prepared for a shocking level of violence and gore that frequently gets labeled as extreme horror. This graphic novel is over-the-top graphic with slashing, ripping, slaughtering, maiming, dismembering, and eating alive. There’s a good combination of both monster gore and human gore. What’s more, every bit of it is shown in detail.
There is truly no way that they can make Something Is Killing the Children without it being intensely gory to a level that will make even the most hardened horror lovers squeamish. This is especially true since Blumhouse is reportedly leaning heavily into the creators’ vision. Tynion IV and Dell’Edera are both serving as executive producers, and Dell’Edera will be the visual development consultant.
Something Is Killing The Children Will Show Children Getting Torn To Shreds
The thing that will make Something Is Killing the Children even more intense than other gory shows is the fact that the graphic novel doesn’t show any mercy to the child characters. They show children getting torn to absolute shreds on the page.
It’s kind of an unspoken rule in horror movies and TV shows that you don’t show kids getting murdered brutally onscreen, though this has become less binging over time. Really, there is no way to make Something Is Killing The Children without breaking the rule.
What’s more, the monsters’ nests are made from the dismembered and mangled bodies of children. The only thing that will make it moderately easier is that it will be animated instead of live-action. But that doesn’t change the intensity of this story.
What Is The Status Of Something Is Killing The Children?
Unfortunately, Something Is Killing The Children probably won’t come to our screens for a while. The Blumhouse deal was only announced at the end of October 2025. This makes it extremely early in development. The good news about having to wait, though, is that it’s the perfect time to revisit the comics and relive all their gory glory.
