Dynamite Entertainment has announced that the fifth addition to the collected paperback edition of the original Vampirella run will be on shelves this December. Vampirella Archives Volume 5 continues the affordable reprints of the Daughter of Draculon’s original run and anthology tales. Volume 5 will include issues #29-35 of Vampirella Magazine originally released by Warren Publishing from 1973 to 1974.
Fans can now choose from several eras of Vampirella or continue the two-month release schedule for these beautiful collected editions and jump in wherever they choose! In Volume 5, fans can find Flaxman Loew’s run on Vampirella in issues #28-36. Artist Jose Gonzalez joins Loew with a final issue drawn by Jose Ortiz, as well as a cast of amazing talent in classic tales from Steve Englehart, Doug Moench, and artist Esteban Maroto.
One of the significant draws of Volume 5 is the first appearance of Panthra, Vampi’s feline frenemy in Vampirella #30, created by Steve Skeates and Rafael Auraleon. Panthra starts in four series in this new paperback collection, as well as two stories featuring the Ramon Torrents character, Fleur.
Another highlight of this new collected Volume 5 is the artwork in the series by painter Jeffrey Catherine Jones. Issues #32-34 all feature her contributions. On one, she is joined by Bernie Wrightson, a compatriot of the legendary The Studio collective alongside Barry Windsor-Smith and Michael Kaluta.
Now is your chance to read one of the most iconic strong female characters in and out of the comics industry from the very beginning with Dynamite’s affordable trade paperback program. As a sneak peek at the next volume, fans can expect the three Vampi stories drawn by Leopold Sanchez, Esteban Maroto‘s visions of Dracula, and an unexpected return for Archie Goodwin.
