EXCLUSIVE: Alliance Media Partners (AMP) has boarded world sales ahead of the American Film Market (AFM) on Non-Player Character, a vigilante horror which has just completed its post-production.
Pic is directed by Nathan Tape, written by Tim Cairo and Nathan Tape, and stars Jared Bankens, Eddie Jemison and Madison Wolfe.
The synopsis read: “Hank Krinkle is a socially isolated content moderator who spends his days policing the most depraved corners of the internet while caring for his abusive, dying father. When Hank’s desperate search for a black-market kidney draws him into an underground world of sex work, conspiracy and algorithmic manipulation, the boundaries between the digital world and reality begin to collapse.
“As Hank becomes increasingly entangled in this hidden network, his grip on the real world starts to unravel. What begins as a desperate attempt to save his father develops into an unhinged journey through exploitation, male ego and the violent underbelly of online culture — forcing Hank to question whether he is still the person controlling his life, or merely another non-player character trapped inside someone else’s game.”
Producer Tim Cairo said: “Non-Player Character expertly blends surrealist horror with the menacing hyper-masculinity of the vigilante thriller, delivering a frightening portrait of our digital existence. It is precisely the kind of boundary-pushing material that AMP specializes in bringing to market. We couldn’t be more thrilled to partner with AMP in introducing the world to Nathan Tape’s audacious new vision. “
Anthony Buckner and Bob Portal negotiated the deal for AMP with Logan Taylor of New Ratio Films and Tim Cairo of Cairo Pictures.
Anthony Buckner, AMP’s Head of Sales and Acquisitions, added: “Non-Player Character is exactly the kind of bold, provocative thriller that cuts through in today’s market. It’s smart, unsettling and taps into our growing dependence on technology while delivering a gripping story with real edge. We’re excited to bring it to buyers worldwide.”
