Wendy Osefo and her husband, Eddie Osefo, are being accused by state prosecutors of using the aliases “Pam Oliver” and “Eddie Hennessy” and of having a whopping 40 credit cards as they attempt to nail down evidence to support a motive for the alleged fraud crimes they’ve committed.
After the Real Housewives of Potomac couple’s indictment in Maryland last month, prosecutors are gathering information against them, including financial records and other documents, to beef up their case and display a pattern of excessive spending.
The Baltimore Banner shared news of the latest court filings on November 20, revealing that Wendy and Eddie’s defense attorneys accused prosecutors of being on a “fishing expedition” and requested that subpoenas be tossed out.
Meanwhile, in their own filings, prosecutors fired back, noting that the couple had “approximately 40 credit and/or debit cards, some of which are believed to be in company names,” and had used the aliases “Pam Oliver” and “Eddie Hennessy” to seemingly “mask their identity.”
The prosecutors, who believe that Wendy and Eddie were facing significant debt before they allegedly staged a robbery at their home in April 2024, also claimed Wendy had falsely denied using PayPal, Venmo, and Cash App to buy jewelry.
“The state anticipates seeing purchases as well as returns on the financial records,” prosecutors wrote. “Additionally, the State expects such documentation to show a pattern of excessive spending, supporting motive in this case. The State avers that insurance fraud is a financial crime, and in that, the amount of debt owed by the Osefos, jointly, individually and by the businesses that they own, is highly relevant to their motive.”
In response, Eddie’s attorney, Joseph Murtha, described the requests as broad and questioned the timing of the documents, saying prosecutors were “looking for something they haven’t figured out after 18 months of investigating.”
Joseph additionally noted that authorities hadn’t talked to Wendy or Eddie “from the time of the break-in until they were charged criminally.”
Circuit Court Judge Brian DeLeonardo will rule on the subpoenas at a December 2 hearing.
Despite the circumstances she is in, Wendy attended BravoCon over the weekend, where she addressed the charges against her.
“I want to say thank you to everyone who has reached out to my family during this time. I read your messages. I can’t respond to everyone, but your love and support mean the world to me. You know, it’s an unfortunate situation, and right now I can’t say too much, but I will say when the time is right, I will share my story with everyone, and for now they’re just allegations, so we will continue to push forward,” she stated.
She also refused to accept an apology from her RHOP co-star, Ashley Darby, 37, who shaded her arrest during a performance in Washington, D.C.
“I tried to talk to you backstage. You didn’t want to talk to me, so I receive that and I’m simply saying what I need to say, and I mean it. And you can either take it or not,” Ashley explained.
“And I will not. Thank you,” Wendy replied.
