Who is the REAL leader of the X-Men? New details about the team have come out in a rumor about Marvel’s mutant-led reboot.
There’s been a lot of excitement in the speculation inherent in the lead-up to a new X-Men reboot. The rumor mill has been churning with ideas on who could play certain members of the iconic team, with fancasting going viral every few weeks. Even if, currently, there’s no concrete details about how the studio plans to approach the team.
Yet it seems the first sprinkles of information are finally leaking their way out of the rumor mill. A report from The Cosmic Circus reveals that the studio seems to be going with a more standard team composition for the X-Men reboot. This includes members such as Angel, Nightcrawler, Beast, Gambit, and Rogue. Of course, Cyclops and Jean Grey are also expected to be members of the team.
Who Is The Leader Of The X-Men?
Of course, no X-Men team is complete without its leader. However, it seems that the reboot may be taking a bit of an unconventional approach to the concept. The rumor suggests that both Cyclops and Jean Grey will serve as “co-leaders” for the team, seemingly giving the latter much more agency than she’s had in any prior incarnation of the team.
Both Jean Grey and Cyclops have had stints as the leader of the X-Men in the comics, at times running opposing teams due to splits in their ideology. It’s not likely that the MCU would be adapting this sort of storyline right out of the bat, especially as it would mean Cyclops would be framed as a villain. However, this rumor certainly set up a ton of interesting possibilities.
