Update: Unsurprisingly, the controller sold out within 30 minutes of publishing this story. If you buy the controller now, your order will be shipped by a third-party reseller. We don’t recommend buying first-party Switch controllers from resellers at Walmart or Amazon unless your order is fulfilled by the retailer.
Seemingly out of nowhere, the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 edition Nintendo Switch Pro controller is back in stock at Walmart. We haven’t seen the controller in stock directly from a major retailer for years, but right now, you can pick one up for $74, which is the same price it launched at way back in 2017. To repeat: This is sold and shipped by Walmart, not a reseller.
The Xenoblade Chronicles 2 edition controller is a first-party wireless Switch Pro controller that features all the same functions and buttons layout as the standard version–including HD rumble, gyro, and amiibo scanning–but sports a unique color scheme based on the game. The controller hasn’t been available for years, so fans and collectors should grab it from Walmart while it’s still in stock because once it’s gone, it’s unlikely it’ll ever come back.
The sudden appearance of the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 edition Switch Pro controller isn’t the only surprise Nintendo Switch hardware restocks. The gold Legend of Zelda Edition Nintendo Switch Lite is also back in stock at Best Buy and available for $210. It comes with a code from Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription. You can also grab the Animal Crossing New Horizons Timmy & Tommy’s Aloha Edition Switch Lite bundled with a code for Animal Crossing New Horizons for $159 (normally $200) at Walmart.
Plenty of other gamepads are discounted at various online retailers as part of the many ongoing sales ahead of Amazon Prime Day 2024, which takes place July 16 and 17, including this deal for the Blue and Red Joy-Cons bundled with Super Mario Party for $39 (was $100). Be sure to check our Prime Day controller deals roundup for more deals.
