Not at that top level. You need to be the kid banging a ball against a wall for hours every day in a park or garden in the rain. Endlessly practicing that whole foot and ball interaction. That’s how you get to be David Beckham.

To perform at that level, you probably need to hit the 10,000 hours to be an expert level by 15 or so. That’s how a lot of the really good players get to be so good. Running around after a ball for literally hours, most days, for their entire childhoods since they were 5. And then you need to keep going and really learn tactics and all the rest. Given other options, kids tend not to do that. And kids like Brooklyn have so many other options.”
