After a year of setbacks in 2023 due to strikes Disney Animation has surprised us all with the announcement that Moana 2 will be hitting theaters ahead of the 2024 holiday season.
The hit animated movie Moana made $682.6 Million at the box office, a sequel should come as no surprise! However, the sudden annoucement on the heels of the double Frozen announcement sure are a pleasant surprise for animation lovers (and kids) everywhere.
Disney CEO Bob Iger announced the project when assuring investors that the movie studio is back on track: “I feel great about where we are.”
You can expect the animated feature to hit theaters November 27. The announcement for the sequel came during an earnings call in which Iger emphasized that the ship was being righted at Disney’s film and TV divisions several months after he acknowledged the company had done too much too fast in order to feed Disney+, leading to some cases of lower quality projects hitting the marketplace.
