After months of speculation and debate, the cast of the much-anticipated Beatles biopic films has finally been confirmed.
Last year, it was announced the project was set to be broken up into four feature films – one for each member of the famous band.
Now, director Sam Mendes has taken to the stage at CinemaCon in Las Vegas to reveal who will play each of those members.

The four actors set to play the Fab Four are Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr.
As he made the cast news official, Mendes brought each actor on stage.
“We’re not just making one film about the Beatles – we’re making four,” Mendes told the audience, per The Hollywood Reporter.

“Perhaps this is a chance to understand them a little more deeply.”
After joining Mendes on stage, Mescal, Dickinson, Quinn and Keoghan recited the lyrics of the Beatles’ famous song Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and then took a synchronised bow in true Beatles fashion.
Rumours of who was slated to play the leading musicians have been circling since late last year and now that we have confirmation, those rumours were almost bang-on.

Speculation Mescal would portray McCartney began when director Ridley Scott accidentally let it slip in a December 2024 conversation with director Christopher Nolan.
“Paul is actually stacked up, doing the Beatles next. So I may have to let him go,” he said after a screening of Gladiator II in Los Angeles, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Around that same time, rumours began circling about the remaining cast members suggesting Dickinson would play Lennon and Keoghan would star as Starr.
Early rumours about the Saltburn star’s involvement in the films were fuelled by none other than Starr himself.
The legendary drummer told Entertainment Tonight that Keoghan was set to play him.
“I think it’s great,” Starr responded when asked for his reaction to the rumoured casting.

“I believe he’s somewhere taking drum lessons, and I hope not too many.”
The only difference among the rumours and the official cast list is that Quinn and Charlie Rowe had both been reportedly in talks for the role of Harrison. But we now know Quinn scored the role.
The Beatles: Then and now
The Beatles are widely considered the biggest band in music history and are finally getting the cinematic treatment they deserve.
Fans still have a while to wait, though. Mendes also revealed on stage that all four films are set for theatrical release in April 2028.
