Captain America: Brave New World may be in trouble! The long-awaited return of Anthony Mackie as Captain America gets one of the worst Rotten Tomatoes scores for the MCU!
It’s no secret that Captain America: Brave New World has an uphill battle to climb when it comes to public perception. Even ignoring the MCU’s recent history and outside factors surrounding the film, the project has been absolutely plagued with controversies. With multiple rounds of reshoots and reports of poor test screenings, almost every week fans were hit with yet another report suggesting that they shouldn’t go see the film.
With the film finally set to hit theaters in just a few days, all eyes are on social media to see if Captain America: Brave New World truly crashes and burns, or manages to rise from the ashes. Initial reactions seem to be mixed, with some absolutely adoring the film while others call it a hollow, choppy mess. However, the true make-or-break with these reviews is the Rotten Tomatoes score.
Captain America: Brave New World Bombs With Critics
Sadly, the critics score seems to reflect the mixed reception that most reviews are showing. As of writing, Captain America: Brave New World sits at a shockingly low 46% on Rotten Tomatoes, with the audience score not available due to the film not yet releasing in theaters. This makes the film the worst reviewed MCU film in the franchise’s history, tying it with Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.
Of course, the Rotten Tomatoes score isn’t the be-all-end-all of the film’s quality. Plenty of movies and shows bomb with critics and are beloved by fans. However, these reviews do present another uphill battle for Captain America: Brave New World as fans outside of the core MCU base may choose to skip this installment in favor of other films.
Captain America: Brave New World is currently slated to hit theaters on February 14, 2025. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
