Sum 41’s Deryck Whibley has released his new clothing brand, Walking Disaster. At Warped Tour Orlando, Whibley launched the first collection, which he designed himself. Earlier this year, Sum 41 wrapped their final headline tour in support of their last album, Heaven :x: Hell, after announcing they were calling it quits.
“I had this idea to start Walking Disaster as a clothing company back in 2008,” Whibley says. “I actually incorporated the name, started the company, but because I’m so committed to what I do — I was 100% focused on Sum 41 and didn’t have the bandwidth or the time to put the effort in to do a great clothing line.”

The first limited-edition drop featured a collection of items, like socks, hats, and hoodies. The brand’s mantra of “Own Your Chaos” is meant to be a call to arms for those who feel like they don’t fit in. There’s also an aptly titled “Chaos Box,” an exclusive curated box that includes a signed book, a handwritten letter, socks, and other items. At Warped Tour, Whibley managed the Walking Disaster tent himself and even performed a spontaneous rendition of “The Hell Song.”
“Once Sum 41 was over, I decided now’s the time,” Whibley says of Walking Disaster. “I want to do something. It’s still creative, [and] it’s really fun — it’s not the same as writing music, but I still get to be very creative, and all these ideas that are floating around in my head, I get to put them into clothing instead of music.”
