Donald Trump Openly Admits ‘Nobody’ Will Memorialize Him After His Presidency – So He’s Doing It Himself

Well, this is certainly one way to talk about your legacy…

Donald Trump is apparently very aware that his name might not be plastered across Washington forever — unless, of course, he does it himself!

In a new interview with New York Magazine, Trump was asked about Georgia Senator Jon Ossoff’s recent suggestion that the president is building monuments to himself because he knows nobody else will do it for him. Ossoff is, of course, a Democrat, mind you — so, he’s a guy that Trump should be disagreeing with.

But instead, Trump’s response was a stunningly blunt agreement. He said:

“That’s true.”

Trump then doubled down:

“Nobody will do it once I’m gone. When I leave here, nobody will.”

Uhhh… did he really just say that?!

The comments arrive as Trump’s administration pushes forward with an ambitious collection of construction and renovation projects around Washington, DC. New York reports that more than 100 structures have been altered since Trump returned to the White House, with the projects collectively costing more than a billion dollars.

Then there’s the planned Great Triumphal Arch near Arlington National Cemetery. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum announced Thursday that excavation has begun on the gold-accented project. And when Trump was previously asked who the arch was for, his answer was remarkably on-brand:

“Me.”

Meanwhile, Trump’s enormous White House ballroom project continues moving forward after the Supreme Court recently allowed construction to proceed while legal challenges continue. Multiple media reports claim the ballroom is estimated to cost $800 million, with taxpayers covering part of the broader project.

And will Trump’s name be on that ballroom, too? Uh, well, he certainly hopes so. He told New York:

“It should. I don’t know if it will, but it should.”

So, apparently, the race to leave a permanent mark on Washington is on. Whether these projects ultimately become enduring monuments or simply become part of the ongoing debate over presidential power, public spending and the capital’s architecture remains to be seen.

But one thing is crystal clear: Trump wants to make sure nobody forgets he was there. Because apparently nobody else is gonna do that for him…

Reactions, y’all?? Share ’em (below)…
