Loki seems to be planning a reunion with an old enemy! The latest rumor from the set of Avengers: Doomsday teases the God of Mischief may have a trick up his sleeve.
Fans have some rough guesses of how the events of Avengers: Doomsday will play out. The rumor mill has provided enough details to guess at Doctor Doom’s plans, set photos reveal some details about what the X-Men are going through, and leaks have shown off a number of teams assembled of the greatest heroes from across the MCU.
However, one big question mark that has been hanging over the production of Avengers: Doomsday is what role Loki will play in the film. The character is perhaps the most closely tied to the Multiverse when it comes to any character in the Multiverse Saga. However, he has been mostly absent from the rumor mill since the movie began production.
Loki’s Role In Avengers: Doomsday
The first rumor prominently featuring Loki finally made its way onto the net last week. According to DanielRPK, Tom Hiddleston filmed a scene for Avengers: Doomsday relatively recently. During the scene, it seemed as though Loki was meeting with Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter. This could potentially mean that the character is traveling back in time to recruit him in the fight against Doctor Doom.
This rumor also suggests that the young Steve Rogers will be almost entirely divorced from the main plotline of Avengers: Doomsday. Rather, he’ll be joining a cosmic team led by Loki to try to keep the Multiverse together while Doctor Doom seeks to stop the incursions and take down the heroes of the mainline MCU.
