13 Bombs in Jakarta Trailer

“It will be the end of a corrupt system!” There’s a new Indonesian action thriller arriving to watch soon on VOD in the US titled 13 Bombs in Jakarta, also known as simply 13 Bombs. This intense thriller first premiered and opened in Indonesia last year, and recently played at the 2024 Rotterdam Film Festival a few months ago. A government organization races against time to uncover and stop the mastermind behind the placement of 13 bombs in Jakarta before the city falls into chaos. IFFR adds this intriguing detail: “Loosely inspired by the biggest financial fraud in Indonesian history, Angga Dwimas Sasongko’s smart, taut action thriller 13 Bombs revolves around the promises and treacheries of digital currencies. The narrative weaves together three points of view: those of the entrepreneurs, the bureau, & the militants themselves, who come across not as dramatic abstractions, but full-fledged characters with rational, even humanist motivations.” 13 Bombs stars Rio Dewanto as Arok, with Putri Ayudya, Chicco Kurniawan, Ardhito Pramono, Ganindra Bimo, Lutesha, Muhammad Khan, Rukman Rosadi, & Niken Anjani. Take a look below.

Here’s the two main trailers (+ poster) for Angga Dwimas Sasongko’s 13 Bombs in Jakarta, on YouTube:

Jakarta, the metropolitan city with all its hustle and bustle, suddenly became dark. A group of terrorists launched their attack with the threat of 13 bombs scattered throughout the Indonesian city. Investigations by the Intelligence Agency and secret agents into the terror led to Oscar and William who were thought to be involved. The secret agent team’s mission becomes complicated when they suspect there is an intruder within the team. On the other hand, the leader of the terrorist group, Arok continues to spread terror by exploding bombs every 8 hours. The only way to stop this terror attack is to hand over billions of rupiah worth of ransom in the form of bitcoin to Arok or the safety of all of Jakarta’s residents will be threatened.

13 Bombs in Jakarta, also known as 13 Bom di Jakarta or just 13 Bombs, is directed by prolific Indonesian producer / filmmaker Angga Dwimas Sasongko, director of many films including Days for Amanda, We Are Moluccans, Letters from Prague, Bukaan 8, 212 Warrior, One Day We’ll Talk About Today & Today We’ll Talk About That Day, Story of Kale: When Someone’s in Love, Ben & Jody, Stealing Raden Saleh, and A Long Way to Come Home most recently. The film’s screenplay is co-written by Angga Dwimas Sasongko & Mohammad Irfan Ramly. It’s produced by Taufan Adryan; co-produced by as Mia A. Santosa. This initially premiered at the 2023 Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival and it already opened in Indonesia in December last year. It also screeened at the 2024 Rotterdam Film Festival earlier this year. Sasongko’s 13 Bombs in Jakarta will debut direct-to-VOD in the US starting April 30th, 2024 coming up. Anyone want to watch?
