It’s been 25 years and Simple Plan continues to light up fans who grew up alongside them, and now they are doing it all again with their new gen Simple Plan fans – both were out in full force at Warped Tour Long Beach over the weekend.
Press Pass LA caught up with frontman Pierre Bouvier and guitarist Sébastien Lefebvre backstage at the festival, which marked just the second day of the band’s latest North American tour, “Bigger Than You Think- The Sequel”.
For longtime fans, Simple Plan’s presence at Warped Tour offered a powerful dose of nostalgia, relishing their songs that helped define the pop-punk era of the early 2000s. But many of those millennial teens are now bringing their own children to shows, where the next generation is embracing the music as something entirely new.
For Bouvier, the songs of yesteryear Simple Plan continue to take on new meaning:
“It is strange how some of the songs, like I’m Just A Kid and Perfect, I can still relate to even though I am an adult.
It’s like I’m going to mess up – but now the consequences are bigger!”
— Pierre Bouvier

Simple Plan has also found fresh ways to connect with audiences away from the stage. If you haven’t already – check out their TikTok – it is hilarious.
The band’s comedic social media content has become a major part of its online presence, allowing the members to bring the same playful energy and personality fans see at their live shows to a global digital audience.
“Now it is like a community we have built, and that is the reason that we are playing shows that are bigger, our fan base is bigger, and we’re going viral every week!”
— Sébastien Lefebvre
The pair also offered advice for emerging artists looking to build a lasting career, connect authentically with fans and make their mark in an increasingly crowded music landscape.
