“Do you think this guy is just going to forget we exist?” Voltage Pictures has debuted the official trailer for a comedy called All Night Wrong, ready for release starting in August this summer. This “dark comedy and crime thriller” first premiered at the SXSW London Film Festival last month, and it will be out on VOD right away next month. Gary and Ell meet on a blind date only to wind up stealing a killer’s car along with a dead body and $40,000. Starring Maria Bakalova & Zach Cherry as the couple on a blind date, along with Emily Hampshire, Ryan Beil, and Tyler Labine. The few reviews of this ready so far are pretty good – explaining that: “over one wild night, Gary and Eli learn what they’re capable of and what they deserve in a relationship, whether it be romantic or platonic.” It’s also filled with wacky 1980s humor, a thrilling twist or two, and many more antics and hijinks of course. Alas doesn’t look like it’ll be the sleeper hit of the summer.

Gary (Cherry) and Ell (Bakalova) expect a straightforward hookup after meeting online – instead, they get a suspicious motel clerk, a stolen car, a backpack full of cash, and a body. Too compromised to call police, the two decide to handle it themselves. But the body won’t stay dead, and a cryptic plea sends them chasing a trail of blackmail, betrayal, and lost love before the night’s true villain is revealed. Equal parts dark comedy and crime thriller, it’s the worst and best first date imaginable. All Night Wrong is directed by producer / filmmaker Jason James, director of the movies That Burning Feeling, Entanglement, and Exile previously, plus many other generic TV movies as well. The screenplay is written by Jason Filiatrault. Produced by Amber Ripley, Richard Kondal, and Jason James. This initially premiered at the 2026 SXSW London Film Festival in the UK earlier this summer.
