UNINTERRUPTED, the athlete empowerment media company co-founded by LeBron James and Maverick Carter, held its Athlete Party this week. The private event brought professionals from across the sports world into a single room. The Instagram recap collected close to 40,000 likes.
The caption on the post was brief: “One night. One room. Countless moments. Thanks to everyone who made the UNINTERRUPTED Athlete Party one to remember.” No guest names or venue details were shared publicly.
UNINTERRUPTED launched in 2015 with a clear goal: give athletes a way to tell their own stories without going through traditional sports media. Players traditionally reached the public through press conferences, broadcast interviews, and beat reporters. UNINTERRUPTED set out to change that by putting athletes in control of their own content.
That idea has spread widely through professional sports since then. Athletes from the NBA, NFL, and other leagues now run podcasts and YouTube channels. Many operate full social media presences that function like small media companies. UNINTERRUPTED was one of the first brands to build that model seriously.
The brand’s highest-profile project is “The Shop: Uninterrupted.” The HBO series seats athletes, entertainers, and other public figures in a barbershop for unscripted conversation. The format is intentionally open. Guests talk freely, and the conversations tend to move past standard sports topics. Notable guests have included NBA and NFL stars, musicians, and former President Barack Obama. Obama appeared on the show in 2018. The series helped carry UNINTERRUPTED from a social media brand into mainstream television.
Beyond “The Shop,” UNINTERRUPTED has produced other content focused on athletes away from the field. “Kneading Dough,” one of its earlier series, centered on how athletes think about money and finances. Those kinds of conversations rarely come up in traditional sports coverage.
UNINTERRUPTED is part of SpringHill Company, the entertainment and media business LeBron and Carter built together. SpringHill has grown past sports, adding film and television production. The company has partnered with major studios and streaming services.
LeBron’s business work has been active throughout his basketball career. Carter has been his partner in it since the early 2000s. He’s handled much of the company’s direction throughout.
Events like the Athlete Party are how UNINTERRUPTED operates in person. Bringing athletes into a single room, away from the usual press environments, is a different kind of gathering. The recap’s language, “one night, one room,” points to something small and deliberate rather than a large industry showcase.
Close to 40,000 likes on the recap tells you the brand’s audience was paying attention, even without a detailed rundown of the night itself.
