“You are the best natural code-breaker I have ever seen.” Fathom has revealed the new official trailer for A Beautiful Mind, the classic 2001 movie made by Ron Howard. This is getting a 25th Anniversary re-release for a few nights playing in theaters in November this fall. A Beautiful Mind ended up winning four Academy Awards in 2002 – including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Supporting Actress, in addition to being a massive box office success all the way through 2002 (it opened in December 2001). A mathematical genius, John Nash made an astonishing discovery early in his career and stood on the brink of international acclaim. But Nash soon found himself on a harrowing journey of self-discovery – eventually learning that he has schizophrenia and many of the people he “sees” are entirely in his own mind. Starring Russell Crowe as Nash, Ed Harris as Parcher, Jennifer Connelly as Alicia, Paul Bettany as Charles, Adam Goldberg, Judd Hirsch, Josh Lucas, Anthony Rapp, with Christopher Plummer as Dr. Rosen. Inspired by events in the life of John Forbes Nash, Jr., and based on the book “A Beautiful Mind” by Sylvia Nasar. This special 25th anniversary release includes exclusive insight from Leonard Maltin. I’m a huge fan of this film – I watched it so many times when I was younger. It’s the perfect time to revisit it now.

A mathematical genius, John Forbes Nash, Jr. made an astonishing discovery early in life and stood on the brink of international acclaim. But his prodigious career was sidetracked by problems that would have broken many men. Nash, however, fought back. He had always been driven by his quest for one truly original idea and never lost sight of that dream. After many years of struggle, he triumphed over tragedy and literally changed the world. A Beautiful Mind is directed by the acclaimed American actor / filmmaker Ron Howard, his 15th feature film at the time after making How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000) and before making The Missing (2003). The screenplay is written by Akiva Goldsman; adapted from the book also titled “A Beautiful Mind” written by Sylvia Nasar. Produced by Brian Grazer & Ron Howard. This first opened in theaters in December 2001 earning an impressive $316 million at the box office along with four Academy Awards.
