Yesterday, Crunchyroll, the ultimate destination for anime fans worldwide, launched Gachiakuta World Takeover, an “unprecedented global anime movement that will deliver the excitement of this incredible title and unite fans around the world.” In partnership with Kodansha, Avex, and Studio BONES, Crunchyroll’s World Takeover campaign kicks off the debut of the main trailer, unveiling new footage from the high-octane action series based on Kei Urana‘s hit manga series (featuring graffiti art by Hideyoshi Andou). Gachiakuta is set to stream exclusively on Crunchyroll on July 6, 2025.
“The manga debuted in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine in February 2022 and quickly gained recognition, winning the Global Special Prize in the Comics category of the Next Manga Awards 2022,” reported The Beat‘s D. Morris when the Gachiakuta anime was announced.

Crawl back from the abyss of Hell to change this lousy world!
Rudo lives in the slums of a floating town, where the poor scrape by under the shadow of the rich who live a sumptuous life, simply casting their garbage off the side, into the abyss. Then one day, he’s falsely accused of murder, and his wrongful conviction leads to an unimaginable punishment—exile off the edge, with the rest of the trash. Down on the surface, the cast-off waste of humanity has bred vicious monsters, and if Rudo wants to have any hope of discovering the truth and seeking vengeance against those who cast him into Hell, he will have to master a new power and join a group known as the Cleaners who battle the hulking trash beasts of the Pit!

“When I’m writing the scripts for Gachiakuta, it makes me want to blast my music. It makes me want to go out and have some fun. And it gives me the urge to meet up with my work buddies and friends for a good meal. An anime that makes you feel that way is the best. I mean that from the bottom of my heart,” said series screenwriter Hiroshi Seko.
Fans can also view the global premiere schedule below, alongside a new concept video and visual that tells the world, “Here Comes Gachiakuta!,” and a list of special activations that showcase the raw, graffiti-inspired world.
Global Premiere Events
Before Gachiakuta‘s worldwide streaming debut on July 6th, some anime fans in 15 countries will have the opportunity to see the series early through special advance screenings. These showings will be held at major anime events and cities:

Behind-the-Scenes Content
Alongside today’s trailer debut, Crunchyroll also released a video interview with the series creators, called “Behind Gachiakuta,” which offers a behind-the-scenes look at Urana and Andou, diving into their creative process and passion for fusing manga with graffiti.
Additionally, it was announced that four-piece metal band Paledusk (whose record sales have surpassed Babymetal), described by SharpTone Records as “one of the most important young bands of the new era,” is performing the show’s opening theme, “HUGs.” The theme infuses “the band’s hardcore sound with the emotional resonance of Gachiakuta’s world,” per the official Crunchyroll PR.
“Paledusk’s new track ‘HUGs’ will be the Gachiakuta OP, and is our first tie-up with anime,” said Paledusk guitarist Tsubasa. “It has music devotedly crafted by DAIDAI and lyrics composed by KAITO. Bith are amazing and in touch with the vibe of the series. I hope you really enjoy it together with the Gachiakuta world.”
Musical duo EMA and Misumi, known as DUSTCELL, who are known for their dark, evocative compositions, will bring a deeply personal touch to the show’s ending theme, “TOMOSHIBI” that mirrors Rudo’s journey.
“We spin together words that combine our own lives with how protagonist Rudo continues to survive and thrive after being thrown into the Pit, no matter what injustice he encounters,” said Misumi. “We’d like it to be a tune that lights up the soul of everyone who hears it.”
