The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is getting a brand new spin-off. Hulu ordered a California-based edition of the hit reality series. The new show brings a fresh cast and a new setting to the franchise, but the lead is not who many expected.
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County confirmed with cast
Hulu officially ordered The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County with a brand new cast (via Variety). Podcaster Bobbi Althoff and actress Madison Bontempo lead the group. The show follows young mothers living in Orange County, a region with a strong Mormon community.
As per the official logline, “New group of dynamic young mothers in Orange County collide in a community where beliefs are not just their religion; they are their identity. While some defend their way of life, fighting against modernity, others embrace change, becoming a platform to disrupt the status quo.”
It further reads, “Scandals and secrets will be revealed, facades will crumble, and families and friendships will change forever on both sides of the battlefield as this group of strong, game-changing influencers comes together to build their answer to #MomTok. This is ‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County.”
The spin-off arrives at a rocky time for the original series. Taylor Frankie Paul faced domestic assault allegations, which led to her Bachelorette season getting shelved and paused production on the main show. Season 5 is set to return, though no date is confirmed yet.
Producer Jeff Jenkins had teased the expansion back in November. He has stated he was confident a spin-off would come very soon. He also noted that personalities would always drive any new edition of the franchise forward.
Jeff Jenkins leads the show as executive producer with his team at Jeff Jenkins Productions, 3BMG, and Select Entertainment. The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County premieres on Hulu later this year.
The show is set to premiere later this year, though an exact date is not confirmed yet. At the same time, the original series continues to face delays, and production plans remain uncertain.
The new series cast includes Bobbi Althoff, Aspyn Ovard, Avery Woods, Salomé Andrea, McCall DaPron, Chandler Higginson, Ashleigh Pease, and Madison Bontempo.
