“And that is the legend of the very first peanut butter and jelly sandwich.” Pixar has debuted another fun short film to enjoy – this one is titled Fruit & Nut, an experimental short created in their unique Pixar Labs program. The 7-minute short film is a stop-motion short featuring a hippie strawberry and penniless peanut going wild in an obvious Thelma & Louise homage. This is the second stop-motion film ever made by Pixar, following another experimental short called Self recently. This was created by the two Pixar story artists Rej Bourdages & Tony Maki as part of the “A Pixar Artist’s Short Film” series playing on YouTube. Which is the spiritual successor to their Spark Shorts – Pixar was letting artists make their own shorts experimenting in fun ways. Fruit & Nut is an amusing, creative lil’ tale of how PB&J sandwiches all started. 🍓🥜 View below.
Thanks to Pixar for debuting this short on their YouTube channel. Intro from YouTube: “Pixar Animation Studios has debuted their second-ever stop-motion short film Fruit & Nut.” The legend of the first peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Fruit & Nut is a short created & written & directed by animation filmmakers Rej Bourdages & Tony Maki – artists for Pixar (both of them worked as story artists on the Pixar films The Good Dinosaur, Coco, Inside Out 2, Soul, Luca, Elio, Hoppers previously). Produced by Paige Johnstone. Made by Pixar Animation Studios in Emeryville, CA. This is their second stop-motion film after making the short Self previously (available on Disney+). This project was made as a special “A Pixar Artist’s Short Film” creation. For more info on the film visit YouTube. To discover more shorts (including animation), click here.
